A man in his late 20s has been arrested in connection with the arson attack that killed two people in Edenderry, Co Offaly.
Tadgh Farrell, aged four, was killed in the attack, alongside his grandaunt Mary Holt, 60. He had been visiting his grandmother and grandaunt at the house in Castleview Park, Edenderry, when the attack took place.
Tadhg’s grandmother received treatment for serious burns.
The attack was described by gardaí as a “reckless, callous and murderous attack on a family home.” Gardaí confirmed it was carrying out searches at homes in Counties Kildare and Offaly in relation to the fatal attack.
An Garda Síochána say they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the house fire on the evening of Saturday 6th December, 2025.
Investigations are ongoing.
