Gardaí have removed the remaining CCTV images of Dublin riot ‘Persons of Interest’ after receiving over 90 identifications, following their public appeal for information.
In an update this morning, gardaí said that they had received “significant support” from the public in progressing the investigation.
Gardaí published November 19 CCTV images of 99 ‘Persons of Interest’ on the Garda website, which they stated was to help them either rule each individual “in or out” of the criminal investigative process.
To this point, over 90 identifications have been received.
The investigation team will continue to consider how to progress and identify the small number of remaining ‘person of interest’ cases, according to the garda spokesperson.
“An Garda Síochána is not confirming at this time the role of any nominated/ identified individual in the events of the 23rd November 2023,” the spokesperson said, adding that “it should not be presumed that a nomination/ identification means criminal involvement in these events”.
“An Garda Síochána is continuing the process of validating all nominations received. Each person subsequently confirmed as identified is entitled to and will be afforded due process in progressing their individual case.
“In order to facilitate and expedite this An Garda Síochána has provided additional resources to the dedicated Garda investigation team.”
Last Saturday, November 23, was marked as the first anniversary of the widespread unrest that took place in the streets of the capital.
