A man in his 20s appeared before Limerick District Court this morning, facing charges related to the illegal discharge of a firearm during an incident in Ennis, Co. Clare.
Gardaí responded to reports of gunfire outside a house on Lahinch Road, Ennis, shortly after 10pm last Friday. The property was damaged, but no one was hurt.
A man in his 40s was initially arrested and held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, but was later released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
During further investigations, a second man in his 20s was arrested under the same act at a Garda station in County Clare. He has since been charged.
Gardaí confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
