The last definite figures on the amount of money collected in TV licence fees was supplied by Minister Catherine Martin to a PQ from Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin North West, Paul McAuliffe, on February 15.
This showed that in 2023 a total of 824,278 licences had been sold which brought in revenue of €131.9 million. The answer confirmed a continuing downward trend in both figures with the number of licence sales down by 136,999 or 14.2% since 2020, and revenue down by €22 million.
