South Dublin County Council has ignored a request from Gript for the evidence they based their ‘Fact and Fiction’ leaflet on, a document that has been sent out to tens of thousands of residents in south Dublin claiming to dispel myths about asylum seekers and their effect on Irish society.
The initiative, which has been reported as intending to “counter misinformation”, was developed by SDCC and championed by Independent councillor, and former mayor, Alan Edge, in coordination with the South Dublin County Partnership and the South Dublin Volunteer Centre. Gript emailed both organisations with the same request made of SDCC and received no response from either.
