Serial sex offender Chico Makamda, who has 15 previous convictions including sexual assault, false imprisonment and robbery, has been spotted wandering around in Ireland after he was ordered to self-deport by the courts.
Makamda’s crimes include exposing himself to two teenage girls in Kerry, attempting to drag a random woman down a lane at night, and repeatedly punching a separate woman in the stomach after cornering her by some bins.
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison by a trial judge for his offences. However, the judge suspended the final two and a half years, on the condition that Makamda leave Ireland voluntarily by the 27th of January.
However, while Makamda was to leave the country by today, according to the Sunday World, he was photographed wandering around Dublin city centre a few days ago, still in the country.
His status is currently unknown.
At a Joint Committee meeting on the 11th of July 2018, Michael Kirrane, Director General of INIS at the Department of Justice, admitted that when a deportation order is issued to someone by the Irish State, the obligation is on the person to remove themselves from the State.
“When a deportation order is issued, the obligation is on the person to remove themselves from the State…We can’t be precise about how many actually do because we don’t have exit checks”, Kirrane said.
