Gardaí have arrested a woman after seizing approximately €125,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis in Swords, Co. Dublin.
In a statement issued today, Gardaí said that the arrest took place at approximately 12:30am on Monday this week, after a vehicle was stopped for no tax or insurance. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was found to be disqualified and was subsequently arrested.
Following a search of the vehicle, Gardaí discovered approximately €70,000 worth of suspected cocaine concealed inside.
In a follow-up search carried out under warrant at a residential property in the Swords area, Gardaí seized an additional €55,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb.
The drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
The woman is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the DMR North.
Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí said that the seizure forms part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.
The aim of Operation Tara is to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks from high to low levels, from international and national suppliers to local drug dealers.
