WATCH: Michael McNamara’s penetrating questions on abortion and conscientious objection

Last week, the Independent TD for Clare, Michael McNamara, asked a searching question of the Chair of the Abortion Review, Marie O’Shea, who was attending the Oireachtas Health Committee to discuss her report on the operation of the abortion act.

Ms O’Shea, who was charged with conducting an independent review, had tweeted support for repeal of the 8th prior to the 2018 referendum. She was joined in appearing at the Health Committee by Trinity College researcher, Dr Catherine Conlon, who campaigned for abortion to be legalised as part of the jocularly-named TARTS (Trinity Academics for Repeal).
