WATCH: Irish Catholics protest Government shut-down of public Masses

Catholics in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal prayed outside their cathedral after the government-imposed closure of religious services took effect this morning.

Mass-goers at St. Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny prayed the rosary and sang hymns in protest against the closure of Masses to the public as part of the government’s response to increased cases of Covid-19.

Religious services will now move online, with many people at the protest expressing their dissatisfaction that they will once again be prohibited from attending Mass in-person.

Hairdressers, pubs and restaurants were all forced to close indefinitely on Christmas Eve, whilst inter-county travel is set to be banned from midnight tonight.

Another protest by Mass-goers took place this morning at the Pro-Cathedral in Dublin, whilst more are expected in Limerick and Kilkenny tomorrow.
