A man has been arrested after a violent incident at an asylum centre in Dungarvan where criminal damage was caused to the former hotel, and chaotic scenes were captured on video.
Furniture and equipment appear to be thrown up around the centre in the Clonea Strand Hotel, with angry and upset people milling in the lobby, while part of the dining room appears thrashed.
Videos reportedly from the asylum centre, which match images of the former hotel, show rooms and hotel spaces in disarray, and shouting and screaming in the premises.
It is believed that a row between two families living at the premises escalated – and that glass was broken as well as damage allegedly caused to the car on the grounds.
