A man has been arrested after he aimed a gun at a pastor during a sermon in a church in North Braddock in Pennsylvania. The pastor, Glenn Germany, said: “Only God stopped and jammed this gun”.
Pennsylvania State Police have charged 26-year-old Bernard Polite with attempted homicide saying he entered and attempted to shoot Pastor Germany yesterday at approximately 1 p.m.
Video taken by the church’s deacon shows the moment Polite stopped directly in front of the pastor and aimed the gun, which failed to discharge, police said.
The video shows church Deacon Clarence McCallister jumping forward and tackling the gunman to the ground. “There’s something that needs to be done and I jumped up and handled my business,” the Deacon said.
Pastor Germany described him as a “hero”.
