It is now believed that at least 2,300 people have died after multiple earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria, including one that registered a 7.8 magnitude.
Rescue teams continue with desperate efforts to reach those trapped in the rubble, including whole families and children.

In Syria, at least 582 people were killed after a 7.8 earthquake.
The quake hit an area where millions of displaced people live in tents or war-damaged buildings.

The earthquakes are amongst the most severe in the region in living memory and have caused horrifying scenes.
