Vaccine Update: Over 8,000 vaccines administered on Sunday

Sunday the 25th, the last day we have data for, saw 8,824 vaccines administered – the highest number ever administered on a Sunday. It ended a week which saw us administer 182,065 vaccines – the highest number of vaccines we have ever administered in a single week, and an increase of roughly 30,000 over the week before.

The total number of doses administered, as of the 25th, was 1,398,061 with 998,134 of those being the 1st dose, and 399,927 of those being 2nd doses. The average number of doses administered per day, over the last seven days, is now 26,009.

As of the 25th 108,543 first doses have been administered to Cohort 1, those in “long-term residential care facilities.” That number includes both patients and staff.

254,422 first doses have been administered to Cohort 2, “frontline healthcare workers” – a number substantially higher than the total number estimated to be working in the sector.

444,156 first doses have been administered to those in Cohort 3, which consists of those 70 and older who are not in long-term residential care.  The CSO estimates that there are 490,000 people in this cohort.
