Ukrainian refugees paid over 750m in social welfare since start of conflict

Ukrainian refugees living in Ireland have received over €750,000,000 in social welfare payments since the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in early 2022.

The Irish Mirror reported the figures which were released from the Department of Social protection showing that €754,169,000 was paid from March 2022 to the end of last month to BTOPs (beneficiaries of temporary protection) from Ukraine.

Of this €481.6 million was paid in job seekers allowance while €81.4 million was paid to persons over the age of 66 years through the state’s pension scheme.

€60.4 million was paid out in child benefit with Ukrainian refugees receiving €140 per month per child.

The supplementary welfare allowance scheme paid out €21.4 million with €2.6 million of this amount designated for clothing.

€12.7 million was paid in Disability Allowance over the same period, as well as almost €6.4 million in Carer’s Allowance.

More than 110,000 Ukrainians have come to Ireland since the outbreak of the war which is mostly affecting the east of the country.

As Gript previously reported, the Cabinet recently decided to make significant cuts to the amount of social welfare paid to Ukrainian refugees, cutting it from €220 per week – the highest rate in Europe – to €38.80 per week.

However these cuts will not affect Ukrainian refugees who were in receipt of social welfare payments before the decision to reduce payment rates came into effect.

On this platform, Maria Maynes wrote, “A briefing paper from the Houses of the Oireachtas, published in October, detailed comparative social welfare rates across the EU, revealing that Ireland gave the highest weekly social welfare payments to Ukrainians across the EU.

Other EU States and the UK, meanwhile, paid between €7.90 and €131.45 per week, with most countries limiting payments where accommodation and supports were provided.

The briefing document showed that in relation to weekly payments to refugees from Ukraine, France offers €47.60 for those accommodated per week, and €99.40 per week for those not accommodated.

In Italy, €75 per week is payable for those in independent accommodation. Different but lower rates apply for those staying in State provided facilities, subsidised hotels and with families.

In Bulgaria, €180 one time financial assistance is available. Monthly social assistance may be made, subject to provision of voluntary work in some cases.”

Martin gave us some great news too where they are going to buy and build to facilitate another 3600 illegal immigrants while the irish homelessness goes through the roof. The proof is in the pudding. They can say what they want, they are just not helping the irish people and investing our money for everyone else in the world.

You cannot have a welfare state and open borders.

Evidently our welfare department did not get minister Humphreys’ memo nor it appears was she informed about the job seeking Ukrainians.

“We have had to announce more work permits recently because we can’t get the staff in certain sectors.” If there are jobs, then there is no good reason to issue work permits when we have so many Ukrainians on unemployment

And an Irish pensioner had to take them to court because they refused him a few bob for a winter jacket/coat, while they doled out money, left, right and centre to Ukrainian fake refugees, from the second most corrupt country in Europe. They are coming from all over Ukraine and from outside it too, but the war is only in the east of Ukraine. No wonder the Ukrainians are wearing the most expensive and glamorous clothes and expensive shoes. The working Irish are doing without essentials themselves while paying taxes for all that. Make no mistake, the Irish government want the Ukrainians to stay permanently. Micheál Martin is crazy for them. Vote for anti-immigration candidates only in all elections. That’s all we can do to oppose this ‘refugee’ racket and to save ourselves and our country

Why is one Ukrainian getting €220 per week and another Ukrainian getting €39 ?

It’s only recently arriving Ukrainians that are getting 38.80 in order to dissuade people coming here but nothing to encourage the ones already here to return

Russia invaded Ukraine to protect its ethnic compatriots in the Donbass ,East Ukraine.’
The Western Ukrainians invaded Ireland to loot our Welfare, our Housing ,our Health system our Education system and displace us from our Homeland.
This is EU modern warfare, by mass migration, to destroy a stable homogenous ethnic Nation and create societal chaos ,instability, insecurity and crime. The weapons of ethnic cleansing.

I’ll see your F off cars and private buses, and raise you expensive hair-dos and nails. Plus shopping bags from expensive boutiques.

I blame the corrupt government of Ireland for enticing them in by giving them all these massive welfare payments and priority housing, education and health. The majority are still receiving the higher rate. It will be forever. And minister for refugees Gorman is singing the praises of ‘durable relationships’ in the referendum. If the yes vote wins, all the concubines of polygamous west Africa will be pouring in on top of us too. They and their children. We are only hanging on by a thread. There has to be a great heave from us against this rot, if we are to survive. A new nail in our coffin everyday.

And the rest

My Mother has been refused funding for a mental health facility which she was deemed right for. The letter stated “due to limited funding “:and saving funding for those with severe clinical needs. My Mother is 84 years old. 85 this year. Let’s not forget on top of the millions spent on social welfare, the additional millions spent on medical cards and my Mother worked her whole life and contributed.

Sorry to hear. That is so wrong

Would you support a decision by Ireland to copy the UK's "Rwanda Plan", under which asylum seekers are sent to the safe - but third world - African country instead of being allowed to remain here?
