The Vox party’s Francisco José Contreras MP was temporarily suspended by Twitter for his response to a news article that claimed a pregnant man gave birth to a child.
Contreras’ tweet, which read “That’s a lie. A man cannot get pregnant. A man has neither uterus nor ovaries”, prompted the platform to take action in a debate that has become increasingly prominent in Spain.
Twitter claimed the MP’s tweet had broken its policies tackling “hate, threats, harassment, and/or fomenting violence against people” based on “race, origin, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religion, age, disability, or illness.”
The Vox party, which has experienced steadily growing electoral successes in Spain, was previously censored by Twitter for highlighting crime rates among illegal immigrants.
Contreras, who is deputy leader of Vox and a professor of legal philosophy, said the decision to suspend him was “fascist biology” and that next time he would try “2+2=4” with Twitter staff.
Spanish journalist and author of “Why I Stopped Being On The Left” Mario Noya said the decision to suspend the MP “stinks”.
We shall not yield to anthropological delusion. We will continue to speak the truth on human nature. It's biology, not bigotry: https://t.co/I0oC8EYIyf
