The Green Isle Hotel has been one of the landmarks on the road from Dublin to Naas since it was built in 1967, when the road was a much more modest two-lane highway. For many years it was owned by the Lynch family, who sold it in 2008, and in June it was reported to have changed hands again after it was placed on the market with a guide price of €40 million.
There has been growing speculation regarding what the new owners intend to do with the hotel, with the usual whispers that it might be intended to be pivoted away from hospitality into the lucrative asylum accommodation industry.
