Ahead of tomorrow’s Budget, Aontú leader, Peadar Tóibín, has said that the government waste exemplified by almost €1 Billion in unrecovered social welfare overpayments will “make jaws drop around the country”.
The figures released to Tóibín by Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, show that another €354m between 2016 and 2025 had been added to the outstanding debt balance of €597.4m at the end of 2015 – with a current outstanding debt balance of €951.3m.
