The State media regulator Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM) is in way over its head. Or at least, I hope it is, because the alternative – that it is entirely organised and effective, responsible for all of its actions – is much worse.
What got me thinking this way was an email I received during the week from a CnaM employee working in the Freedom of Information division, apologising for the delay in issuing a decision in relation to a recent request I’d made under that legislation. This situation was brought about, in their words, by “current resource limitations including unexpected absences”.
