I cannot be the only one who, possessing no special knowledge of the course of future events, gets the sense that Europe is currently busy applying its warpaint with intent. The only thing more curious than the frenzied, urgent tempo the drums of war currently seem to be beating is the fact that the tune hasn’t been picked up on our shores in any way, shape or form.
But more on that shortly. Recent glimpses of Polish and German cities certainly left that militaristic impression for this writer, as trams chugged by bearing advertisements for military recruitment and posters depicting camouflage-cloaked young men bedecked the walls, encouraging passersby to consider a military career if they’re seeking a life of adventure.
