On Monday the Irish Times ran a piece, “Is free, publicly-funded childcare possible in Ireland? It continued, “Government has established a special unit to investigate what a ‘nationalised’ childcare model might look like in terms of staff; service offering; fees for parents; and overall funding model.”
Good grief, I thought, a nationalised childcare model. What could possibly go wrong? This sounds very similar to nationalised childhood if you ask me, but then people rarely do.
