The accused in this case may be found guilty, or innocent, and if they end up in prison, few will mourn their plight on an individual level.
The problem with this defence of Minister McEntee is straightforward, one would have thought.

In all of this, Mr. Burke’s conduct could be described as courageous. But none of it could be described as wise.
With a result like this, he can clearly no longer be an effective leader.
Those who care about their own civil liberties, and keeping the power of the state in check, should support this initiative.
Accepting that Dublin City Council’s ultra left and liberal political culture may have played a role in creating today’s Dublin might be a useful starting point.
