Status Yellow Weather warning issued as snow and ice predicted for parts of Ireland from tonight

Met Éireann Weather Warning

 

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning effective from 8pm tonight until 12 noon tomorrow as ice and snow is expected.

The Status Yellow – Snow/Ice warning is for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Connacht, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath

Wintry showers will lead to icy conditions in some areas tonight (Monday night) and on Tuesday morning.

Caution is advised as potential impacts include hazardous road conditions and slippery paths.

 

Northern Ireland Warnings

 

Northern Ireland also received a status Yellow snow and Ice Warning for Antrim, Down, Tyrone, and Derry. 

The UK Met office says overnight snow showers are likely to lead to slippery and unsafe conditions on untreated roads, cycle paths and pavements with the warning valid from 17:00 Monday 13/03/2023 to 11:00 Tuesday 14/03/2023. 

 

Marine Warnings

A marine warning was also issued for small craft with warnings that Northwest winds will reach force 6 or higher at times on Tuesday morning on all Irish coasts.
