Today, RTÉ ran a breathless headline about “22 civil society organisations” demanding that tech companies crack down on “hate speech” and that the Government fully implement the Criminal Justice (Hate Offences) Act 2024. They also called for “modernising” Ireland’s incitement to hatred laws – which is obviously bureaucrat-speak for making them even broader and more restrictive.
