More than 200 staff at RTÉ were paid over €100k a year in 2025, according to new figures released by the national broadcaster.
It comes amid fresh controversy at the broadcaster, with questions raised about how some six-figure salaries are calculated.
Figures from the broadcaster show that 18 employees were on more than €200,000 last year.
There is no detailed breakdown available of the highest earners after the information was released in response to a freedom of information request.
The release shows that six people were paid between €200,000 and €225,000, while a further nine staff were paid between €175,000 and €200,000.
13 staff were paid between €150,000 and €175,000 while 27 were in a band between €130,000 and €150,000.
24 staff earned between €120,000 and €130,000, whilst 59 people were in the €110,000 to €120,000. 57 earned €100,000 to €110,000.
FOI records show that a total of 330 people were paid between €75,000 and €100,000.
RTÉ Director General Kevin Bankhurst is to meet with Media Minister Patrick O’Donovon later this week in a bid to provide answers– after it emerged that presenter Derek Mooney had been excluded from the annual list of top earners.
This was despite the fact that he was the seventh-highest paid presenter last year, on a salary of €202,264.
A Bill is to go to Cabinet on Tuesday to bring RTÉ’s finances under the control of the State’s spending watchdog.
The long-awaited Bill had first been discussed in 2024 by then Media Minister Catherine Martin following the fall-out from the Ryan Tubridy payments scandal. It is understood Mr O’Donovan is to raise transparency issues related to how the broadcaster pays presenters and producers.
