PREMIUM: It’s okay to be sick of the Progress Flag in public spaces

It’s a good long while since yours truly has been inside the hallowed halls of Leinster House, and it’s adjacent office building, LH2000, which is home to the offices of our TDs and Senators, and is where most of the committee meetings of the Oireachtas are held. Part of the reason for not going there is geographical, given that I live miles from the capital. Part of it, though, is that it’s easier to be objective about the madhouse from the outside, without voluntarily committing oneself as one of the patients.

One of the problems with familiarity is that it does not only breed contempt, but acceptance. When you spend every day of your life in a place, things that you might otherwise question simply become part of the furniture. The photograph above, taken by my colleague Fatima yesterday at an event to mark international women’s day, is a good example of that.

Other countries are taking a step back from going full woke, having become painfully aware that drinking the ‘cool aid’ is not without consequences. Both the US and UK military are failing to recruit white working class men, the back bone of western armies. Why join an institution that appears to hate you. Ireland on the other hand, is going for ideological purity, despite the costs.

Not only does the military hate it’s recruit pool, it has actively discriminated against white people and told them that others will be preferred for promotion. This is done to supposedly compensate for possible past wrongs. The people being discriminated against were not even born when these wrongs are supposed to have happened and rightly say “go stuff you job, I am not joining”.
What young person in their right mind would join of fight for an army and country that hates them. Putin would have an easy run to the Atlantic ocean if he could only get past the Poles. They will fight and do so with their bare hands if necessary. The rest won’t.

I wouldn’t totally count on the Poles for autonomy for I can’t for the life of me fathom how the Poles recently elected Trusk as their Premier. 🙁

This is a profound point John. The new religion of the progressive elite are deeply censorial like their predecessors. The church of Ireland during the Protestant ascendency and the Roman Church that replaced it always sought to control language. And if you control words you control thought. Irish was outlawed by the former and secular thought by the latter. Tyranny of the elite must by definition find a group to hate. What better scape goat than the ignorant great unwashed. If the indigenous population weren’t so pale or inhabited a queer space instead then maybe the new high priests might be more sympathetic? However, I doubt it. The elite need an inferior group to delude themselves they are better than. The new religious elite like their forbears are funded by the tithes they collect. Maybe it’s time we defund the NGO sector and refund An Garda Siochana with the 6 billion raised. How many NGO elites would survive on the largess of this self congratulating minority.

In fairness to the Garda they refused to use peoples preferred pronouns, I remember seeing drew harris on the news using threatening words to the guards who don’t. I was holding my breath, then a few days later there was a vote taken and they rejected the order. A few weeks later I think DH got the no confidence vote. That was rejected by the pathetic minister for justice. No wonder no ones joining the guards.

Fight fire with fire – tomorrow – International Woman’s Day – show any of your progressive friends recent clips of Madonna in concert – i.e. a 65 year old, in a tight fitting leather outfit, “strutting her stuff” on stage…. Just about sums up where Western “civilization” is headed………….

How about adding the 7th of the major colours – to complete God’s natural rainbow. It would indicate respect and would invite humility.
Ah, maybe not; it’s a bit too much to ask!
After all, they’re comfortable with 666.666666666… from where they can throw their toys out of their prams – forever!

Sure d’ye not know? the “GAYS” adopted the rainbow emblem because of the pernicious acronym derived from each of its individual colours – R.O.Y.G.B.I.V = Red/ Orange/ Yellow/ Green/ Blue/ Indigo/ Violet – to be perverted as in –
R.O.G.B. I. V = Ride/ Our/ Young/ Gay/ Boys/ In/ View

A dangerous cult that will leave lasting negative impacts on many vulnerable children and adults. In years to come questions will be asked of how this qas allowed to happen in plain sight.

Both flags annoy me. Whatever they do in their bedrooms should be left there. Not a reason to strut their sexual fantasies on parade behind their flags, but it’s because they get a sexual thrill from showing off in public, with their exaggerated sexual excess and flamboyance. Best confine their sex world to their bedrooms, like normal people. An extremist cult that they are trying to normalise but never succeeded. People are fed up. Certain pedestrian crossings have now been painted in partisan, sexualised markings. All our road markings should be neutral and non sexual and in the interests of safety only. Any deviation from that shows the authorities are not serious about road safety. A road marking should not be an advertisement for anything, much less a sex cult. Anyone who has an accident because of it, or the distraction it causes will have fun making a claim. Too many accidents by speed freaks on our roads, without sexual emblems and all its fetishes entering the fray. Safety on the roads must be treated with respect. Adults with juvenile minds, given power over us, who are making the wrong sexualised decisions, to fit their own agenda. Road traffic markings and advertising do not mingle well and are pathetic.

Thank you John for raising this issue. Living in the city center I have in recent years watched with growing unease the relentless march of the pride flag across the rooftops of most major buildings but, in particular, the rooftops of most government departments. Last year I wandered along O’Connell Street and, to my dismay, noted that the same flag was flying on top of the GPO – perhaps the most iconic building in the country. It vied for prominence alongside our national flag which was the only flag formerly allowed on that building. Our national flag represents all of us and not just a group of minorities but it is gradually being nudged aside. My brother is gay but he shares my unease at the spread of what you rightly compare to a new religion and a religion which is every bit as dogmatic and intolerant as the one we left behind.

I must say John that is a very insightful analysis of the situation at the moment. Your breakdown and viewpoints portrayed in your columns are usually of a very high standard, but I haven’t seen anybody nail down the weird hijacking of the homosexual/lesbian way of life and their rightful push that has come about for acceptance and understanding of their sexual preferences and their effort to assimilate in a heteronormative society, to a path that has gone down some very strange avenues indeed.

With respect, how ’bout I break down and analyse your – in fairness facile – justification for the “gay” movement?. Yes, certainly there is the oul’ trope that “the gays are just useful idiots for the commies” as opposed to being a destructive societal element – per se. But that would be to throw out the baby with the bathwater. (1) “rightful push”? (why is it rightful as in objectively right? – the only true Right/ness. (2) “has come about” ? (oh yeah? Who says so? And on what empirical evidence basis? (3) “acceptance and understanding”? (so you jump straight past “tolerance” and insist everyone must “accept” perversion not merely understand what causes it? (incorrigible compulsions arising from despair and self abnegation) (4) “sexual preferences”? (factually and most accurately defined as “sexual perversions”).
You basically just petulantly, indignantly stringed together the old chestnut array of spell words/ slogans in a style of presenting all of same as foregone conclusions as to their truth/ veracity (none whatsoever). In essence your commentary amounts to platitudinous and linguistic prestidigitation.

As another commentator astutely observed on here recently, upon his noticing only down-votes to his posted comments as opposed to any posted response of arguable commentary, tackling head-on the offensive issues perceived – TRUTH sometimes hurts, which same is genuinely related by this reader absent of mala fides – for avoidance of doubt.

WTF? my below comment replying to another poster was censored citing “waiting for approval – Spam”.
TRUTH needs not to wait for approval from anyone or anything.
Deeming TRUTH for to be “spam” is another classic example of seeking to discredit the opponent who invokes it by using the spellword/ slogan/ smear that is the use of the word “spam” in this context.
The below respectfully posted comment concerned in reply to the Gript commentator identifying as “Paula”:
“Yes, I am genuinely sympathetic to the “ordinary decent gays” (who I understand suffer from incorrigible compulsions) on account of me havin’ a Christian world view en’ all, just as I am genuinely sympathetic to folks with other disorders that also are incorrigible compulsions – such as Autism,Schizophrenia, Tourette’s.Syndrome et al.
But notwithstanding the immorality of the undoubted existence of heterosexual, reckless and excessive promiscuity – it nevertheless is indisputable based on empiric evidence that heterosexual promiscuity rates pale in significance by comparison with homosexual promiscuity rates.
And this is of course borne out by the statistics issued each year by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) http://www.hpsc.ie – where invariably, homosexual activity is the biggest cause of newly diagnosed cases of STDs in Ireland.
This stark verifiable fact sadly means “the gay lifestyle” is treacherous waters for even a non-promiscuous homosexual to just even dip his toes once therein.
And the “PREP medication” is not 100% effective against HIV/AIDS and in any event does not prevent transmission of other nasty STDs.”

Excellent John, the results of todays woke referanda will say a lot. In my local polling station in mornington co meath i noticed many many mna na heirann marching in to vote. Either as loyal followers of the current resigm or to say no to removal of woman from the constitution, if the former is the case i fear this resigm will be emboldened to pursue their next phhase of planting the country using this amendment and the irish people are noting more than usefull idiots. Give me a crusifix any day

Try not to use the expression mná na hÉireann. It is a feminist expression started by Robinson and continued by McAleese, none of whom are able to express themselves in Irish. Just a glib and populist feminist expression. I use the word women, even though I speak Irish. I don’t want to belong to the feminist cult. Who they are, rhymes with witches.

James you know the progress flag which is the one on the windows there isn’t the same as the pride flag. Most gay lesbian bisexual people don’t agree with all of the new letters on the acronym, if things are getting worse for LGB people it’s because of what’s new to that flag. It has turned into a political movement that claims to have no rights, need more rights get more rights. All while taking other peoples, especially women’s and children’s rights. I hate to see all rainbow pattern things now, and it never bothered me until all the stuff started with the transgender cult or the gender queer stuff. Now it signifies danger to me. If I ever see that flag in my children’s school I will petition its removal.

I thought it was an updated flag to include the latest growth of the spectrum of those included within it’s realm as opposed to a different flag so thank you for pointing that out. My point was that once we deviate from human sexuality and marriage being based on the union of one man and one woman we should not be surprised what new permutations and definitions of what constitutes normal family relations are accepted by a government that leads us on an ever onward road to progress and liberalism.

I don’t think theres anything progressive or liberal about the hyjacking of legitimate organizations to push an agenda, the dark truth is a small group of powerful people turned a psychiatric disorder into a civil rights movement and made failure to validate the sufferer’s delusion a hate crime. Vulnerable teens being sterilised and having healthy body parts amputated are the collateral damage.

I should have put those words in quotes. It just seems that any deviation from and aberration of The Catholic Church’s understanding and teaching on human sexuality must be embraced and celebrated and legalised to the nth degree. As Dr Taylor Marshall said recently when we allow governments to define what marriage is, what a man or woman is, then we have given them infinite power such that they replace God in ordaining what is good for mankind. “The government looked on everything they had completed concerning these matters and saw that it was good”

So, you deem the trannies to be convenient scapegoats for to surreptitiously get the *LGB’s” off the hook? With respect, but haha, to your disingenuous blind spot vis a vis in the factual circumstances of it being empirically probative that homosexuals are incorrigible vectors for disease.
And have been the provenance of ongoing REAL pandemics ala HIV/AIDS, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Herpes, Monkey pox, Shigelosis, Scabies et cetera/ ad nauseum.
The lesbians are the least offensive when evincing perceptions of their lifestyle as being pathetic and bizarre in the first instance.
Furthermore, there is no such thing as “bi-sexual” Once a person consensually engages in a homosexual act he/ she is ipso facto a homosexual/ lesbian.
It is important to note, any individual who has engaged only in exclusive homosexual/ lesbian acts (and by necessary implication you can take more than one meaning from the word “exclusive”) would be as rare as the mythical Unicorn.

Not all gay people are like the freaks you see during the pride parade, I bet the majority of those are actually heterosexual, the gay people I know are not over the top they blend into society, they don’t like the camp stuff and are equally as horried at the push coming from NGOs and our government. FYI the increase of stds came with the influx of several different cultures that live life like sodom and Gomorrah, the only problem I have is the LGB that are too cowardly to stand up to the organizations that are putting them back to the 70s. Leo varadkar is the biggest one. Roderick o Gorman isn’t gay he’s a sinister man who parades as one.

Would you support a decision by Ireland to copy the UK's "Rwanda Plan", under which asylum seekers are sent to the safe - but third world - African country instead of being allowed to remain here?
