Is this Ireland’s biggest snowman? This impressive guy – named Big Bill by the five friends who built him – is said to be 23ft tall, has a traffic cone as a nose, a barrel for a hat, and is towering over visitors who are coming to see the massive snow-guy at the soccer pitch in Elton in Co Limerick.
Servatius Antonius, his brother Paulus and their friends Chris Beville and Johnny Driscoll spent five hours building the friendly-looking giant snowman after their water froze and electricity was gone.

“Eventually, when we got around 14 foot above the ground, the three guys threw up big snowballs to me as I slowly stacked it. The aim was to make a snowman where a traffic cone was used as the nose!” he told the Limerick Leader.
A ladder was dragged out as the pile of snow got higher and higher and the flakes kept falling.

Even the photo mid-construction are very impressive. A lot of shovelling would have been required to pack all that together.

It looks like tough going, to be honest, but what a result.
This isn’t the first time that the friends built a giant snowman – back in 2018, the As brothers kicked off the build of an 18ft snowman named ‘André’ . But this time they’ve gone one better.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
