The National Women’s Council has argued that income tax cuts introduced in recent Budgets “disproportionately support men” and should not be repeated in Budget 2027. It has also called for “better long-term accommodation options for people in the international protection system and greater investment in these supports.”
In its pre-Budget submission, the tax-payer funded NGO says that tax reductions for middle and higher earners have eroded the tax base and benefited men more than women, due to differences in income levels and labour‑market patterns.
