All over the UK last week, groups of girls hosted watch parties to view the documentary about Love Island winner Molly Mae Hague. ‘Molly-Mae, Behind It All’ was dubbed ‘our Roman empire’ by some of her Instagram followers (she has 8.5 million, making her Britain’s biggest influencer).
If you’re a young woman on Instagram, in your teens, twenties or thirties, chances are that the algorithm means that you probably see snippets of Hague’s content on your feed, or you follow her and maybe have done since her stint on the programme in 2019. Unlike many of her fellow reality TV stars turned influencers, Hague has remained unsinkable in the last five plus years.
