A 50-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the gruesome murder of a woman in Ashtown in Dublin.
On Thursday, gardai found Maud Coffey, who was aged in early 40s, at her residence at the Horizon apartment block in the West Dublin suburb. It is understood that she died following a ‘frenzied’ knife attack.
A man who was acting bizarrely at a nearby bus stop was arrested under the Mental Health Act, and then told Gardai that he had killed a woman.
That man, Austin Mangan, appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court tonight.
