The bail application of 24-year-old Romanian construction worker, Ionut Danca, who stands accused of delivering a “full force” kick to the face of a Canadian tourist who passed away some time after, has been delayed.
Tom Tuite reported that counsel for Ionut, who initially left the jurisdiction after his alleged participation in the assault that cost Neno Dolmajian his life, had applied for bail in respect of Danca, but that the application was delayed pending the bringing forth of new charges.
It is understood that the charges brought against Danca will be updated to reflect the fact that the victim passed away as the charges were laid while he was still in hospital.
The proceedings have been adjourned until the 27th of August.
41-year-old Dolmajian, who was visiting Ireland from Montreal, was attacked in the early hours of the 23rd of June last. He died in hospital on the 2nd of July.
Gardaí gave evidence of how Dolmajian approached a group on men Cathal Brugha Street whom he engaged in conversation when one of them – allegedly Romanian Madalin Ghiuzan, with an address at Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1 – struck him several times causing him to fall to the ground.
Ionut Danca of Rathdown Square, North Circular Road, Dublin 7 is alleged to have delivered a running “full force” kick to the face of the deceased.
Danca had left the jurisdiction after Dalmatian was assaulted with a court hearing that he was uncontactable for two days before voluntarily returning to Ireland.
