An ex-staffer and confidante of Bill Clinton claimed the former president did indeed visit Jeffrey Epstein’s private island, Little St. James, which reportedly served as a hub for the financier’s sex trafficking operation.
Doug Band, who also worked at the Clinton Foundation, claims that Bill travelled there in January 2003, one of many times he flew aboard Epstein’s private jet, the ‘Lolita Express’”, despite previous denials from the Clintons that Bill had ever touched down on the island.
Band told Vanity Fair that he was personally unaware of Epstein’s crimes, but advised Mr. Clinton to distance himself after seeing their behaviour aboard the plane in an infamous 2002 trip to Africa.
Clinton also accepted a donation to the Clinton Foundation from Epstein during his 2006 visit to the island, Band claims.
A spokesman for Mr. Clinton told The Telegraph that his client remains adamant he never visited Epstein’s island.
One of Epstein’s victims however, Virginia Giuffre, also claimed she saw Clinton there with two women, both alleged victims of Epstein’s sexual advances.
“I remember asking Jeffrey what’s Bill Clinton doing here kind of thing, and he laughed it off and said ‘well he owes me a favor,” Giuffre said in a recently unsealed interview.
“He never told me what favors they were,” Giuffre continued. “I never knew. I didn’t know if he was serious. It was just a joke. He told me a long time ago that everyone owes him favors. They’re all in each other’s pockets.”
Band also stated that the Clinton’s relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell continued after they broke public ties with Epstein following his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor for sex.
Mawell, an English socialite and close friend of Epstein, accepted an invitation to attend Chelsea Clinton’s New York wedding in 2010.
“Ghislaine had access to yachts and nice homes. Chelsea needed that,” Mr Band said.
A Clinton spokesman said it “wasn’t until 2015 that Chelsea became aware of the horrific allegations against Ghislaine Maxwell and she hopes that all the victims find justice”
Maxwell is currently being held in a New York jail pending trial on charges of aiding and abetting Epstein’s criminal acts.
