The cost of running the Oireachtas is set to increase by more than €21 million next year, with a dramatic surge in consultancy spending emerging as one of the most striking features of the newly published Statement of Estimates.
The budget of the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission, the body responsible for running the Dáil, Seanad, and the wider parliamentary administration, is projected to rise from €191.7 million in 2026 to €213.3 million in 2027. This represents an increase of approximately €21.5 million.
