The Leftwing opposition has fractured over Government plans to tighten rules for Irish citizenship, with a Social Democrats TD hitting out at what he described as a “cruelty element” in the proposed reforms.
Speaking during a panel debate on Virgin Media’s The Tonight Show last night, Dublin Central TD Gary Gannon, who is the Social Democrats’ justice and migration spokesman, said he was “really struggling to understand the rationale” behind the proposed overhaul.
