Northern Ireland MP Jeffrey Donaldson has resigned as leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) with “immediate effect.”
The news came after Donaldson’s entire social media presence and website was found to have been abruptly deleted without warning or explanation this morning.

In a subsequent statement, the DUP has announced that Donaldson has resigned as party leader and that he has been suspended from party membership.
“The Party Chairman has received a letter from Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP confirming that he has been charged with allegations of an historical nature, and indicating that he is stepping down as Leader of the Democratic Unionist Party with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“In accordance with the Party Rules, the Party Officers have suspended Mr. Donaldson from membership, pending the outcome of a judicial process.
“The Party Officers have this morning unanimously appointed Mr. Gavin Robinson MP as the Interim Party Leader.”

Much as I detest the man, this is not an occasion for gloating.
Given the circumstances he had no option but to stand down as party leader.
However he deserves due process the same as anyone else, and, should these allegations prove to be baseless, to have his name vindicated.

Speaking up for Dana is no commendation. Dana is partly RESPONSIBLE for very liberal abortion laws being enacted in this country. Her extreme stance in opposing Bertie Ahern’s pro-life amendment, going against the majority view in the Pro-Life Movement, and siding with the pro-abortionists to defeat that referendum opened the door for abortion laws to be passed later. She and the idiots who were duped by her were a gift to the liberal pro-abortion lobby.

But… If one looks at all the allegations of rape or sexual assault, 25 or more years in the past, then usually we see that this is often an attempt to silence or bring that person down. Like the woman, who accused Trump, who said she has a dress with sperm on it and never washed it. When Trump offered a DNA Test, the Judge blocked any tests! Then they tried to do the same with Russell Brand and Andrew Tate, call all their existing Girl friends and failed miserably. Charles Stewart Parnell was brought down, because he had an affair, but when that didn’t work, they forged letters indicating that he was involved in a murder. One cannot say anything as yet, but if you are a member of a lodge, then they have dirt on all their members, from their initialisation ceremonies! Knowing this, how stupid is it, to join such an association?

I do not have any knowledge of the reason for Jeffery Donaldson’s resignation but his resolute support for the rights of the unborn child has been a hallmark throughout his political career.

As I previously said I had no information on what charges had been proffered. However a person is entitled to be presumed innocent until proven guilty so it is best to reserve judgement until after the trial.

I’ve got my own opinion and if thr police have charged him then they believe he’s guilty and it would be highly unusual for a daughter to make up charges like that against her father.

I agree. Police have often wrongly prosecuted people who were subsequently cleared in court. Even following acquittal, it can be difficult for someone to restore his reputation.
