You’ll likely have seen, as I have, rolling updates in recent months about the abandonment of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) measures by US corporations like Meta, McDonald’s, Walmart and more, prompting a couple of questions: Will we see the effects of this in Ireland? Indeed, will there be any effects at all?
Well, listening to Laura O’Donovan Calvert of the Irish Centre for Diversity on RTÉ Radio One this morning, she struck a defiant tone in response to the news that Meta is “cutting major DEI programmes” – including for hiring, training and picking suppliers.
