The level of excess deaths recorded in Ireland in the second quarter of 2023 was consistently amongst the worst across the EU member states, and well above the EU average, a report from Eurostat has revealed.
Excess mortality in Ireland was recorded at 13.6% in June showing no significant fall from the previous month and a rise of more than a percentage point since April.
