While the concept of re-migration remains far from the list of acceptable topics for most political figures in Europe, it has made its way into the public sphere loudly enough to attract approximately 600, mostly young, people to a conference on the topic held in Portugal last weekend.
The organizers of Remigration Summit 2026 – a now annual event – are calling on the EU to immediately freeze “non-Western” legal and illegal immigration into Europe, as well as expelling illegal migrants already here and those who are a “threat or a burden” on member states through a petition linked to the “Save Europe Act” which aims to collect 1 million signatures to “force” the European Parliament to discuss remigration.
