During the Oireachtas Committee briefing on the HSE’s national plan which took place on February 4, CEO Bernard Gloster made an interesting remark on the role of private nursing homes.
In response to a reference by Cork North Central TD Colm Burke to State spending on nursing home care, Gloster remarked: “ I must say that I also have issues with some parts of the private sector and how they conduct their business. The difficulty we have as a State is that our dependence on the private sector is too high.”
