Germany’s ruling conservative party has quietly watered down its plans to challenge overregulation in Brussels, internal documents have revealed.
Plans seen by Gript indicate that the Christian Democratic Union — the party of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz — had planned to challenge European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen over her decision to ramp up the bloc’s digital and green regulations.
