Gardaí say that City Centre ‘rape incident’ did not happen

An Garda Síochána have confirmed that there is no investigation underway after allegations were made that a man had been raped in Dublin city in recent days.

Gript enquired whether reports had been made about a sexual assault allegedly perpetrated against a male in recent days, and has learned that while enquiries were made for the purposes of clarification surrounding the alleged incident, An Garda Síochána are satisfied that an incident as suggested “did not happen and is not being investigated”.

The allegations arose after images appearing to show a young man in distress were shared online.

An Garda Síochána say they have no further comment at this time.
