The level of participation by Fingal County Councillors on the proposal by the Chief Executive to radically alter the County Development Plan to facilitate what amounts to a new high density, and mostly apartment-block city, has been poor.
It has been deficient both in the level of debate and the lack of engagement. At the full Council meeting on March 30, the plan was approved by 25 votes to 8 with one abstention – from my reading of the transcript only 12 of the Councillors spoke.
