Elderly woman robbed in Dublin cemetery by group of five

There have been reports of an elderly woman visiting Deansgrange cemetery when she was accosted and robbed by five men.

According to DublinLive, the woman had her possessions “forcibly” taken from her on Tuesday afternoon, whereupon the “suspected offenders are believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle following the incident.”

A local reported the incident in a Facebook group after the fact, saying: “An elderly lady got attacked and robbed in the Deansgrange cemetery earlier today, please be careful to any vulnerable or people who are out on their own in the area.

“If anyone notices a black car with five men acting suspicious please report to the garda. Hope that poor woman will be okay.”

Speaking to DublinLive, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of robbery that occurred in Deansgrange yesterday evening, Tuesday 21st September 2021 at approximately 4.30pm.

“Personal belongings were forcibly taken from a woman. The suspected offenders are believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle following the incident.

“The woman did not report any injuries at the time. Investigations are ongoing.”
