The charges against a UK national, who was charged with possession of animated child sex abuse images, have been dropped.
As previously reported, Finley Bowd (21) of Harbour View Close, Brixham, Devon, was on his way to comic book convention Comic Con in New York, when he was stopped by Homeland Security in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport.
Bowd was charged with possession of anime images of category 3 child pornography and possession of anime images of child sexual abuse contrary to the Child Pornography and Trafficking Act, 1998 however the case was struck out at the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon after the Director of Public Prosecution did not furnish the court with directions.
Bowd’s defending counsel, Mr. Paddy Flynn BL requested a strike out after hearing that the directions were still outstanding. His client had travelled from the UK for today’s hearing.
He had been bailed to his mother’s address in the UK.
