Two men aged in their fifties have been arrested in connection to a fatal explosion which claimed the lives of 10 people in the town of Creeslough, County Donegal.
The men were taken into custody this morning as part of an ongoing Garda investigation into the circumstances which led to the fatal explosion which took place on the 7th of October 2022.
The arrests were made in relation to suspected breaches of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
The men are being detained under section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 and can be held for up to 24-hours.
The blast which rocked a petrol station and part of an apartment block claimed the lives of: James O Flaherty (48), Jessica Gallagher (24), Martin McGill (49), Catherine O’Donnell (39) and her son James Monaghan (13), Hugh Kelly (59), Martina Martin (49), Robert Garwe (50) and his little daughter Shauna Flanagan Garwe (5), and Leona Harper (14).
Shortly after the incident Gardaí said a suspected gas leak may have caused the disaster.
