Dublin Fire Brigade is reporting that three fire engines along with senior officers are on scene at a fire at George’s Dock near the IFSC.
Reports of the fire first began to be received by the fire service after 6pm today.
“Firefighters are using 70mm hose to control the fire and cool adjacent exposures”, the service reported from the scene around 7pm. “We’ve requested @GasNetIrl [Gas Network Ireland] to the location.”
Two hours later, Dublin Fire Brigade reported that firefighting operations were continuing and that four fire engines, a foam tender and water tanker were at the scene. “We’ve augmented water supplies to the fireground by taking water from the River Liffey. Luas services are still affected,” they said.
The blaze continued to burn strongly until around 10pm but was mostly dampened by by 10.30.
A statement from Gas Networks Ireland said their crew was on site “assisting fire services at an incident in the IFSC “, having said earlier this evening that is was “not yet known at this stage whether the cause of the fire is gas-related.”
At 10.30 this evening, Dublin Fire Bridge posted a message for “keyholders and facility managers”, saying: “We are asking all keyholders of buildings within the IFSC to make their way to the cordon on the Busaras side of the scene. They will then be escorted to assist in building safety checks. Bring: Personal ID, Work ID.”
