Lawyers for “Boy B”, one of the two children convicted of the murder of teenager Ana Kriegel, have launched a formal appeal against his conviction.

Boy B was convicted of Kriegel’s murder in June last year, along with Boy A, who was also convicted of the additional crime of aggravated sexual assault.

During the original trial, Boy B’s defence was that Boy A was solely responsible for Ms Kriegel’s murder, and that Boy B – who was presented during the trial as having visited Kriegel’s house and lured her to her death – was innocent. The jury disagreed and convicted him of murder.

It is unclear when the appeal hearing will take place, or on what grounds the conviction is to be appealed.
