Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín has written to 25 independent or independent-aligned members of the Oireachtas proposing a “nominating caucus” to select an “alternative” candidate for the Presidential election, Gript Media can reveal.
In a communication circulated to Independent TDs and Senators last week, Deputy Tóibín said that as things stand, “30% to 40% of the population will find that their issues, concerns, and values are not part of the presidential election campaign or represented in the Áras”.
