According to election analysts, Europe Elects, The Left Group in the European Parliament received the highest percentage of Ireland’s first preference votes in the European election, which may come as a surprise to many.
Their analysis revealed that candidates associated with The Left Group received 23% of the popular vote, a higher proportion than was found anywhere else in Europe – the next closest was Cyprus at 22%, followed by Greece at 20%.
