Alas, poor Holly. The SocDems may not have been known for their infinite jest or excellent fancy, but they do embrace their role as Greatest Virtue-Signallers of Irish politics – and possibly of all time – with gusto. Their detractors will therefore view their very public squabble with Limerick member (or almost-former-member) Karen Sugrue with some satisfaction, and perhaps a small snigger.
Are her claims a knock to the Social Democrats’ positioning of themselves as stern opponents of the patriarchal structures that silence women and uphold gender inequalities? Oh dear, oh dear.
