RTÉ is offering a contract worth an estimated €1 million in an effort to boost its Brussels office, which is intended to cover shooting and editing work and a small office space.
The contract is split into three lots, covering shooting and editing facilities, office facilities and ‘add-on’ services.
“RTÉ…seeks to procure professional, fully serviced multiplatform news facilities in Brussels to support the operations of its Europe Editor, who is permanently based in the city,” the contract specification reads.
“The facilities will serve as the Europe Editor’s primary working base and must enable high-quality news content delivery across broadcast, digital, and audio platforms, with a particular focus on coverage of the European Union and international affairs.”
The contract is intended to support RTÉ’s “public service broadcasting obligations and its requirement to deliver accurate, impartial and timely news content to Irish audiences,” it states.
To that end, the national broadcaster is seeking an experienced news camera person to work with the European Correspondent or an RTE Designate.
Specifications for the office facilities sought include an office space to accommodate 2 desks, client’s broadcast equipment, with “minimum internal dimensions of 3m x 4m”.
Additionally, the broadcaster is asking for operational staffing, including on-site staff during standard hours with the capacity to operate facilities outside normal hours, as well as reception staff to greet guests and contributors.
Lot 3 concerns add-on services, which include translation and interpretation services, administrative and accreditation support, research and editorial support and story production and local services.
Travel and logistical arrangements, service delivery requirements, quality assurance, editorial sensitivity and environmental considerations are all listed under the third lot.
The estimated value of the contract, which was posted on Government procurement platform, eTenders, offered by RTÉ is listed as €1 million.
